OverviewFor this assignment, you will get to choose any object to draw. It can be a portrait, still life, animal or landscape but you must choose something that you can render well if not realistically. That means you will need to have photographs as a drawing resource. This can not be an image of someone else's artwork.
Once you have found or taken a photo or photos to work from, you will draw the image partially in black and white or gray scale and partially in color. The area drawn in gray scale will be done in graphite or pen and should show that you understand the technique requirements of that medium. I will need to see that you can create a full range of values, that you can create the illusion of form and that you can create varied details and textures. The area that you choose to render in color should be meant to create emphasis. Your color choices should be deliberate and should lead the viewers eyes in and around your artwork and not out of the frame. This can be done in multiple ways, by either choosing one color to highlight or by choosing smaller framed areas of your work. Look at the gallery below for inspiration and read the rubric before getting started. |
