OverviewChoose an object or group of objects to draw from observation. (you may not draw from a picture of someone else's artwork. This needs to be a photo of a real thing) Focus solely on line quality to define the surface contours and details of the objects being drawn. Close attention should be paid to achieving proper proportion. You may add color accents once the line drawing is complete but it is not required. Projects should meet the following criteria:

The purpose of contour drawing is to emphasize the mass and volume of the subject rather than the detail; the focus is on the outlined shape of the subject and not the minor details. Instructions
This contour line drawing must show that you can draw from observation, show the correct proportions of your object, create the illusion of form all by using line. You should also use a variety of line weights.
Once you have done all of these things you can add color as an accent. View the gallery below for examples.
Submit a sketch and a photo of your object so I can check your idea and composition
Once your sketch is approved, lightly draw everything in pencil. Choose pencil, pen, sharpie or colored pencil to complete your project but remember, Contour Line should be the main focus of your work.
Complete a rubric evaluating your work. You must turn in a completed rubric, a photo of your object that you used, and a photo of your drawing to receive full credit.
